Hi,

After having my harddrive freeze on me for the past couple of weeks, I turned it on and get a message saying operating system not found. The harddrive test came back with errrors. I tried buying an enclosure and plugging it into a different computer, and that did not load the harddrive with the data. I also tried fixing or putting the operating system back onto the harddrive, but that did not work as well.

-The fan on the back of my laptop had not been working well. Could that have damaged the harddrive?
-Is there a way to tell if its physical or logistical damage? I never dropped the computer.
-Is there a cheap way to see if I can recover the data myself, and if not, is there a fairly cheap way or company to recover my data for me?

Are there any registry cleaners that scan and fix all errors for free?

Bought a laptop at walmart with a bad harddrive, wont take it back?

I bought a Dell laptop at Walmart about 5 months ago. Just recently it crashed and I took it to the GeekSquad and they said it had a bad harddrive. After I spent for that diagnoses I took it straight over to Walmart and they said "Well, sorry, we have a 15 day return policy." Is there anything I can do? Would Dell be able to help me? I didn’t get a warranty on it, Walmart never offered one.

I bought microsoft office word 2007 online and i downloaded and installed it. It worked fine . My computer eventually had to be restored due to viruses and a harddrive crash. I still have the product key, but when i go to microsoft.com and try to download the program; they want me to pay again for the download. How can i bypass the payment step. thank you, Any replies would help
